Hi, I'm Jackie!

I’m a freelance editor and writer from Hawaii currently living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and working with clients all over the world.

I create and edit writing to help clients appeal to target audiences, tell compelling stories, and build brand credibility. I put personalities to paper, breathe life into technical jargon, and ensure that readers see the message and not the medium.

Always the voracious bookworm, I’ve been word obsessed since childhood. As a precocious 10-year-old, I wrote a Harry Potter/Sailor Moon crossover story that I’ll always consider my magnum opus. As an undergrad, I completed an honors thesis connecting pancakes to cross-cultural exchange. As an English teacher in Japan, I learned that you don’t truly understand your native language until you teach it to someone else.

As a freelance writer, I've done a little bit of everything that has to do with the English language. I've edited novels, written media bios for an up and coming rapper, taught English to 3-year-olds over Skype, ghostwritten for a prominent designer, and put together too many Amazon best-of lists to count.

But my favorite projects (and the ones that I keep coming back to) all deal with helping small businesses and personal brands turn technical knowledge into easily digestible information, connect with their ideal audiences, and build recognition within their fields. I help PhDs turn their research into ebooks and courses suitable for the average consumer. I work with business owners to create relevant blog content to attract the right eyes to their products. And I give those with stories of their own to tell the confidence to pursue publication.
